Armani’s Cucina – Restaurant Review

Vero is known for our beautiful uncrowded beaches, nearly perfect weather, and an endless supply of Italian restaurants.  Google says we have at least 24 different choices in Vero alone, so how does one stand out in this crowded space?  Owner, Angelina Poggi believes her concept of an authentic Italian restaurant has what it takes to be one of the best in this area. Having owned several previous restaurants south of here, one day as they were strolling down 14th Ave, they discovered the space where Prima Pizza was previously located and decided to look into it further. Angelina says “we were not planning to open a restaurant in Vero, it just sort of fell into our laps”. As a food blogger that eats at a lot of restaurants, it’s getting harder to impress me, yet these folks somehow managed to do just that. Everything I tasted was so fresh and full of flavor!

Now let’s jump right in and see what this place has to offer and what I had to eat!

Front Entrance
Outdoor Patio (Shared with Baci and available after 4pm)
Dining Room
Calamari – Lightly dusted and fried, and served with Cherry & Peruvian Peppers. The calamari was very tender and with the addition of the peppers, they did add a little bit of heat to the dish.
Pear and Gorgonzola Fiocchi – Served in a creamy white sauce and drizzled with Truffle oil. I’ve never heard of these before, but let me tell you, they are bite sized little flavor bombs. The sauce was so rich and flavorful! This is an old family recipe and is always requested for their gatherings. Order these on your next visit, you can thank me later.
Shrimp Scampi with Linguine – Jumbo Shrimp are served over Pasta in a Garlic White Wine sauce. Such a simple dish, yet they somehow elevated it to a whole new level. The pasta was cooked perfectly and the sauce was light, yet very tasty! The shrimp were butterflied open to help them soak up even more flavor!
White Pizza with Spinach, Garlic, and Tomatoes – The crust was a hand tossed style and was perfectly baked, soft and chewy with a little crunch on the bottom. Angelina tries to get as much flavor into everything as possible and even seasoned the generous portion Ricotta cheese on top. It was delicious!
