Exterior view of Asian Time Asian Cuisine and Sushi Bar with koi fish signage in Melbourne, FL

Located in a strip mall off Wickham Road, Asian Time is easy to spot by its sign featuring a koi fish. Inside, the space feels warm and modern, with sleek wooden tables and ambient lighting. A highlight is the sushi bar, where you can sit and watch the chefs prepare your dish. There’s also a cocktail bar with friendly bartenders serving a variety of signature drinks. And when Florida’s weather finally cools down, outdoor seating is available for dining al fresco.

I started my meal with a delicious, alcoholic twist on a Thai tea: the Thai Tea Tini. I’m normally not a fan of cream-based alcoholic drinks, but this martini changed that. Sweet, creamy, and infused with that classic spiced Thai tea flavor, this vodka martini felt like dessert before dinner. Topped with a swirl of whipped cream and a mint leaf, this drink gets a perfect score from me.

Monkey Brain appetizer with tempura avocado, spicy tuna, krab, and liquid smoke at Asian Time Asian Cuisine and Sushi Bar in Melbourne, FL

Next came an appetizer that’s just as fun to eat as it is to say: Monkey Brain. This dish features lightly tempura-fried avocado filled with spicy tuna and spicy krab, and topped with greens, spicy mayo, and eel sauce. The balance of textures and flavors—crispy, creamy, spicy, salty—made it incredibly addictive. To top it off, the dish was served with a swirl of liquid smoke that added a touch of drama.

From there, I tried the Vietnamese Egg Rolls, filled with pork, clear noodles, mushrooms, carrots, taro, and onion, all wrapped in crispy spring roll skin and served with house Vietnamese sauce. The taro added a unique nuttiness and mild sweetness. Paired with the sweet dipping sauce, they were fresh, flavorful, and satisfying.

The sushi selection was another highlight, starting with the Nigiri Appetizer: red tuna topped with caviar, smoked salmon belly, and white tuna with caviar, each piece fresh and carefully prepared atop rice. The white tuna melted in my mouth, while the smoked salmon offered a bold, charred flavor. The Sashimi Appetizer followed, with salmon, tuna, and white fish beautifully arranged over crushed ice and served with a plume of liquid smoke. Clean flavors and thoughtful presentation made both dishes shine.

Red curry chicken with vegetables in coconut milk at Asian Time Asian Cuisine and Sushi Bar in Melbourne, FL

One of the most intriguing entrées was the Red Curry with chicken. Packed with vegetables like carrots, bell pepper, snow peas, green peas, pineapple, bamboo shoots, and zucchini, the dish was colorful, fragrant, and comforting. The mildly sweet coconut base had a pleasant medium spice, and the pineapple added a tangy brightness that kept each bite interesting.

To wrap things up, I tried the Pork Chop Jasmine Rice Plate. This traditional Vietnamese dish included a marinated pork chop, fried egg and mixed vegetables. The pork had a warm spice blend that reminded me of a comforting home-cooked meal. The rice was light and fluffy, perfect for soaking up every flavorful bite. Generous portions make this plate ideal for big appetites.
