BBQ Down Food Truck Review

I was in Sebastian one Saturday evening on business and ended up getting done a bit early, so I looked to see what else was going on in the area. As I drove by Mash Monkey’s Brewing Company I noticed a red food truck parked in their driveway with smoke rolling out of it and thought “it must be a BBQ truck”, so I just had to stop by and check it out. I met the owner, Ron Mertz and I could tell right away that he was passionate about what he does. He has worked in the restaurant industry off and on for many years. A few of his first jobs were bussing tables in a Chinese restaurant and as a broiler cook for an Italian place. After getting out of the restaurant biz, Ron worked for a large construction company and traveled the country for over 20 years. Seven of those years were spent in Texas where he learned how to stick smoke meats. Ron has owned the food trailer since 2018 and planned to open and run it full time in a few years when he retired, but the Covid- 19 pandemic pushed that dream forward. He then decided to uproot and move his family back to South Florida and run his BBQ trailer full time.

Now let’s jump right in and see what this food truck has to offer and what I had to eat!
