Sugar Bones Bake Shop in Sebastian is the creation of pastry chef Michelle “Shelly” Lawrence and her husband, Cravius. Shelly, a graduate of The Pennsylvania Culinary Institute, has a decade of experience in high-end hotels and mom-and-pop bakeries. The couple began the business from their home kitchen before COVID—making holiday pumpkin rolls, custom cakes, and French macarons—before expanding into buttery pastries that quickly developed a loyal following. In late 2024, Sugar Bones transitioned from a cottage operation to its current storefront, where their breakfast pastries Indian River County fans line up early, often selling out before the day is done. A participant in our Treasure Coast MasterChef Baking Competition last year, Shelly continues to prove that “sugar is in her bones,” crafting pastries worth setting your alarm for.

The result is a showcase of creativity, from beautifully designed pastries to flavor combinations you won’t find anywhere else. Together, Brandy and Carollynn have created something truly special in Vero Beach, and it’s well worth a visit.
