Flames Mediterranean Restaurant Review – Vero Beach, FL

If you’re on the hunt for a Mediterranean dining experience that balances rich, smoky flavors with fresh, vibrant ingredients, look no further than Flames Mediterranean Grill. Located in the Miracle Mile in Vero Beach, this spot has quickly become a local favorite, after first launching Flames in Melbourne. Whether you’re a Mediterranean cuisine devotee or just someone looking for a fresh experience, Flames has something to satisfy every craving. Here’s a dive into what hubby and I had to eat on a recent Sunday-after-church outing!

Gyro Wrap as prepared by Flames Mediterranean Bar & Grill located in the Miracle Mile area of Vero Beach Florida

First and foremost, the gyro wrap at Flames is an absolute must-try. Served on a warm, soft pita and generously filled with tender slices of perfectly seasoned lamb, it’s a hearty, flavorful Lebanese take on a meal that packs a punch in every bite. The meat is beautifully grilled, with a smoky char that complements the juicy tenderness inside. The accompanying toppings — fresh tomatoes, crisp lettuce, red onions, and a cool, creamy tzatziki sauce — are the ideal contrast to the richness of the meat, giving each bite a balance of texture and flavor. The tzatziki sauce is especially noteworthy here; it’s not overly tangy or watery, but instead smooth and creamy with just the right amount of garlic and cucumber. The wrap is generously portioned and satisfying. Paired with a light salad topped with house made oregano dressing, it hit the spot!

The Ultimate Veggie Mezzo as prepared by Flames Mediterranean Bar & Grill located in the Miracle Mile area of Vero Beach Florida

While the gyros steal the show, Flames also offers standout dishes for those looking to explore plant-based options. The Ultimate Veggie Mezzo offering boasts a flash fried eggplant and cauliflower dish that is a prime example of how this Mediterranean gem excels in delivering bold, roasted vegetable flavors. It came out tender and slightly caramelized on the outside, with a pop of flavor that is complemented by a generous drizzle of tahini sauce. It’s an artful dish that balances earthy and slightly sweet notes, offering a wonderful contrast to the often heavier meat based dishes. The cauliflower is perfectly charred, yet still retains its texture, making for a satisfying, crispy exterior and tender interior. Topped with pine nuts, even my meat loving other half enjoyed this dish.

Another shout out is in order for the clean, modern decor and the attentive server. We had not been to a Mediterranean Restaurant in a few years, and there are some terms on the menu that we didn’t know. Our server was very personable and took the time to answer questions. Although there are many “fine dining” level of dishes on the menu, the atmosphere is relaxed and casual, perfect for a laid-back lunch or dinner with friends and family. Whether you’re indulging in the gyro wrap, or enjoying the perfectly roasted eggplant and cauliflower, Flames Mediterranean Grill delivers a culinary experience that satisfies both the appetite and the soul.

I can see myself coming back at lunchtime more often to explore the menu further. Sometimes it’s fun to get out of your food rut and try a new cuisine! Flames is open 7 days a week, and offers $2 off beer and wine during Happy Hour, which runs from 2-7pm Monday through Friday. The owners are Carla and Zack Nassau.
