Foodie Day Trip – Fort Pierce, FL
I’m continuing my “Foodie Day Trip” article series and this time I’m heading to Fort Pierce Florida! In my first article, I started in the Melbourne & Palm Bay areas, and I’m eating my way down the Treasure Coast! In case you missed the last article from my visit to Sebastian, FL, CLICK HERE to catch up on the series.
I live in Vero Beach, so I’m quite familiar with the Fort Pierce area. With over 100 different restaurants to choose from, this article is not a complete list of all the great places, but a few of my personal favorites. Be sure to explore my website for other great restaurant suggestions in the Fort Pierce area!
Now let’s dive right in and see what all these places have to offer and what I had to eat!
Chuck’s Seafood
Chuck’s is located in Fort Pierce on Seaway Drive and backs up to the Fort Pierce Inlet. Parking was quite plentiful, but they still had a parking lot attendant that provided assistance, which was a nice touch. Upon entry into the restaurant, you step into the main bar, with the hostess stand on right, which was a little hard to see because it was tucked in the corner. The dining room and outdoor patio are up a flight of stairs. The dining room is quite large and had beautiful 180-degree views of the inlet, which was really nice! If you prefer to dine outside, let them know when you make a reservation because they tend to fill up quickly!

Chicken and Waffle at Kinfolk
We recently switched from grocery shopping at Publix to Winn-Dixie on Oslo Road in Vero Beach due to better prices on most items. The store is a bit smaller, and doesn’t have everything we need, so I suggested that we go check out the Winn-Dixie in Lakewood Park. It’s a much larger store with a better selection. In doing so, we discovered this hidden gem of a restaurant and decided to check it out for breakfast before we go shopping. Boy am I glad we did, this place is fantastic! One of the best breakfasts that I’ve had in a long time! Everything was cooked to perfection and had tons of flavor! Chef Willie also came out to check on us during our visit, which is always nice to see owners meeting with their customers. With lots of other great sounding dishes on the menu, we can’t wait to go back again soon!

Lorenzo’s Italian Restaurant & Pizzeria
My neighbors (who are of Italian descent) keep telling me that Lorenzo’s is their favorite Italian place in Fort Pierce, so I had to stop by to check it out! While I enjoy “Sunday Gravy” as much as the next guy, I do love Chicken Marsala! This is the one dish that I order quite frequently and is how I judge an Italian restaurant based on how well they execute this dish. The dish should have nice balance of sweet & savory flavors, with a nice earthiness from the mushrooms, and Lorenzo’s delivered on all those points! Portion size was quite large, enough for 2 to split, or take home for leftovers the next day. Be sure to arrive early, the place is quite small and fills up quickly!

Pickled Restaurant & Bar
Owners Jason and Hallie Alfonso opened Pickled Restaurant & Bar in December of 2020, as their latest restaurant creation. If you’ve been a longtime fan of Chef Jason’s cuisine, then the menu here will be familiar, and you won’t be disappointed. It’s southern inspired with dishes like Fried Green Tomatoes, Shrimp & Grits (featured below), and Chicken & Waffles. Upon entry into the restaurant, the dining room is very spacious as is the ceiling height. It has that semi-industrial chic vibe with the open ceilings and air ducts exposed. One of the main features is the large bar with a TON of comfy bar stools to choose from. If you are in the mood for a drink or a bite to eat a little later in the evening, they are open until 1:00am most evenings.

I’m planning to continue this blog post series and visit a few new areas of the Treasure Coast. I will work my way from North to South, unless you have any suggestions for me? I travel anywhere from Melbourne to West Palm Beach. I’ll be heading to Port St Lucie next, so send me your restaurant recommendations for that area!
12 A Buoy is the best restaurant in the area! You should try to go there.
I’ve been there once quite a while ago and my experience was just OK. I need to give them another chance. Thanks for the suggestion!

Little italy in Port St. Lucie has great Italian food at reasonable prices. The sauce has a wonderful flavor. Since the new owners this place has become a popular place to eat
I just completed my Foodie Day Trip article for Port St Lucie and it drops on Wed, Nov 9th! I’ll have to check this place out next time I’m in the area!
