I’m continuing my “Foodie Day Trip” article series and this time I’m heading to Sebastian Florida! In my first article, I started in the Melbourne & Palm Bay areas, and I’m eating my way down the Treasure Coast! In case you missed the last article, CLICK HERE to catch up on the series.

I live in Vero Beach, so I’m quite familiar with the Sebastian area. With over 66 different restaurants to choose from, this article is not a complete list of all the great places, but a few of my personal favorites. Be sure to explore my website for other great restaurant suggestions in the Sebastian area!

Now let’s dive right in and see what all these places have to offer and what I had to eat!

Crab Stop of Sebastian

Front Entrance
Waterfront Deck – Live Entertainment on the Weekends
Caribbean Seafood Rice – Sautéed mixed veggies, crab meat, shrimp, sausage, pineapple, are all mixed together with a touch of Caribbean seasoning and stuffed inside a pineapple.
Snow Special – It contains 3 clusters of snow crabs, 12 jumbo shrimp, 1 lb. of Garlic Red potatoes, and two corn coblets.

If you are looking for a WOW factor seafood dining experience, then look no further than the Crab Stop of Sebastian! This is my go to place when I want to impress out of town guests with their large overflowing seafood bowls. Owners Ellis & Brandy Buckner opened this place a little over 3 years ago and business has been booming ever since. Their menu features king crab, snow crab, peel & eat shrimp, scallops, crawfish, stone crab claws (when in season) fried shrimp, garlic red potatoes, sliced sausage, garlic eggs, all dusted with their secret spice blend, and then lots of garlic butter ladled over the top. When they bring your order to the table, the aroma of the garlic butter is intoxicating! Be sure to wear your “crab eat’n” clothes, this is a full contact sport and it’s gonna get messy!

The Italian Cousin

Front Entrance
Dining Room
Fresh Mozzarella Caprese – served with Roasted Peppers & Tomatoes
Cousin’s Veal – Artichokes, spinach, tomatoes, gorgonzola

Owner and Executive Chef Gus Rivera and his wife Chef Michele Hennessey previously ran a restaurant in this same space called The River Grill. About 7 years ago they decided to retire that concept and open it’s Italian “Cousin” in it’s place. The restaurant is located off of US Hwy 1 just south of Sebastian. As you’re driving north, just keep an eye out for their sign, the driveway entrance is just past it on the right. The dining room feels bigger than it looks from the outside and the interior décor puts you in an “Italian” state of mind. I’ve eaten here several times, and it’s always spectacular. Do yourself a favor and don’t skip dessert! The almond mascarpone cake is to die for!

Mo-Bay Grill

Front Entrance
Dining Room
Parmesan Crusted Haddock – Served over Lemon Butter Angel Hair Pasta
Blackened Sea Scallops with a Sweet Plantain Butter Sauce

I always have fond memories when dining at Mo-Bay Grill because it was the VERY FIRST restaurant I reviewed almost 6 years ago now. Owner and Executive Chef Wesley Campbell has created a very diverse menu with an influence on Caribbean and Jamaican flavors. He uses only the freshest spices to create the perfect balance of sweet and spicy in his dishes, which is a flavor combination I’m very fond of. His menu also features International cuisine so there is something on the menu for just about everyone. The atmosphere has a very laid back island vibe with murals on the walls of life in Jamaica and the Caribbean. You can find Chef Wesley in the dining room nightly greeting his customers, making sure they have a fantastic experience.

Sebastian Sandwich Shack

Front Entrance
Dining Room
The FOAP (Father of all Phillys) – 8 oz. of Philly Meat, Capicola, Salami, Mozzarella Sticks, Marinara, Mushrooms, Peppers, and Banana Peppers
The MOAB (Mother of all Burgers) – 12 oz premium beef patty, mozzarella sticks, onion rings, French fries, bacon, grilled onions, tomato, lettuce, pickle and jalapeno.

I stopped by the “Sandwich Shack” to sample a few items from their menu and I was impressed with what I tasted. They have quite a diverse menu that includes soups, salads, sandwiches, wraps, and of course desserts! I was also happy to see they had a nice selection of milk shakes on the menu too! If your REALLY hungry, might I suggest you try the MOAB Burger or the FOAP sandwich. MOAB stands for MOTHER OF ALL BURGERS, and FOAP stands for FATHER OF ALL PHILLIES and they were awesome! They pride themselves on making fresh, homemade food, so be sure to check these guys out next time your in the area or make a special trip up there to see them, I know you won’t leave hungry or disappointed!

Pops Ice Cream

Front Entrance
Dining Room and Ice Cream Case
Purple Cow – Vanilla ice cream with a Grape Fanta soda
Banana Split – (Left to Right) Razzle Dazzle Raspberry ice cream, Chocolate Peanut Butter ice cream, Peanut Butter & Jelly ice cream. You can mix / match it up the way you want.

If you are looking for a “Super Premium” experience, then look no further than Pop’s Ice Cream in Sebastian, FL! They are located at the corner of Roseland Rd and US Hwy 1 in the Roseland Plaza (in the corner) and was founded in 2015 and under new management since 2019. The new owner is a Desert Storm war veteran and offers discounts to all first responders and veterans. All of their ice cream is made in house and contains 16% butter fat with a little overrun. The higher butter fat content makes the ice cream richer and creamier than regular ice cream. It also makes it softer when served, and is not as “hard packed” as it’s lower butter fat counterpart. With alcoholic infused, sugar-free, gluten-free, and vegan options, I’m sure you will find a treat here to please the entire family!
