The Funky Cuda Bar & Grill Restaurant Review – Fort Pierce, FL

Colorful, coastal, and unapologetically fun, The Funky Cuda Bar & Grill brings beachy bites, bold flavors, and more live music to Fort Pierce. Nestled just off the Indian River Lagoon near Jimmy Buffett Memorial Highway, this laid-back hangout feels like a tropical daydream come to life. It’s the kind of place where you can roll in wearing flip-flops, order a drink, and settle in for good vibes and even better food. Whether you’re there for the music, the crab cakes, or the great service, The Funky Cuda promises a good time wrapped in island attitude.

Step through the gates, and you’re greeted by a kaleidoscope of hand-painted signs and Caribbean colors that instantly tell you’re here to unwind. The open-air bar is lined with stools while rustic tables invite you to relax in the shade or under the Florida sky. Sports and fun TV shows play behind the bar, chill tunes run through the speakers, and on most nights, the stage—back-dropped by a massive, toothy barracuda mural—comes alive with local talent.
Now, on to the food!

I started off my meal with an all-time favorite, the Crab Cake. Now, I’ve been all up and down the East Coast. I’ve had my fair share of crab cakes, so when I sat down to try this one I just wasn’t ready for how good it is. Made with flavorful herbs and balanced spices, this dish does not skimp out on the crab. Each bite had giant mouthfuls of jumbo lump crab meat which is exactly what I was looking for. Paired with a zippy house-made rémoulade and lemon slice all I could think about is how this is a definite must-try, this crab cake is one of the best on the Treasure Coast without question.

Next up was the Cuda Burger: two well-seasoned smash burger patties with crispy bacon, melty Gouda, spicy jalapeños, sautéed onions, jalapeño slaw, house-made Cuda Sauce, and fresh crunchy lettuce, tomato, and onions. The Cuda Sauce was like a sweet-savory glaze that felt both familiar and crave-worthy! It brought together all the flavors and balanced out the jalapeños, and I really liked the slaw on the burger. This is definitely a burger for those who love them and want something new and exciting.

Wanting to taste more from the menu, I just had to try one of their flatbreads. The Bacon Cheese Burger Flatbread had a base of seasoned ground beef, bacon, and baked cheddar jack cheese topped with shredded lettuce, chopped tomato & red onions, sweet relish, and Fancy Sauce on a light crispy flatbread. I really enjoyed that it was true to its name, every bite tasted like a bacon cheeseburger! But even better, the flatbread itself is so light and tasty that it made me want to try all of their other versions too.

Last but not least, I just had to try the Peanut Butter Pie for dessert. With an old-fashioned look but bright and delightful flavor I was very surprised with this dessert! The peanut butter pie filling itself was creamy and luscious while hidden inside was a moist pie crust crumb underneath. This made me think that this is what The Funky Cuda vibe is all about: relaxed, inviting, delicious.
Whether you stop by for a quick drink or settle in for the full dinner-and-a-show experience, The Funky Cuda delivers on all fronts. It’s casual but thoughtful, fun without trying too hard, and packed with the kind of flavor and atmosphere that keeps people coming back. From the food to the service to the laid-back setting, this is the kind of place that reminds you why living—or even just visiting—the Treasure Coast is something special.
