Gianna’s Pizzeria Restaurant Review – Sebastian, FL

When I first heard about Gianna’s Pizza in Sebastian, Florida, I was instantly curious. Italian-Mexican fusion isn’t something you often encounter, and with both cuisines ranking among my top personal favorites, I couldn’t wait to see how these flavors would come together. Fusion cuisine is no stranger to bold experimentation, but this one promised to be both local and uniquely authentic.

During a conversation with the owners, Alan & Caroline Yanez, I learned that Alan’s journey into the restaurant world started when he was just 15 years old, working as a dishwasher in the local Italian food scene. He quickly worked his way up, falling in love with pizza-making, which sparked his dream of opening his own restaurant. That dream became a reality with Gianna’s, named after his two daughters, a heartfelt combination of their names. Alan’s passion for both Italian cuisine and adding a Mexican twist shines through in every dish. It’s more than just a restaurant for him—it’s a legacy he hopes to pass on to his children.

Gianna’s Pizza is still relatively new, having opened just over a year and a half ago, but it’s already made its mark. The mix of authentic Italian flavors with Mexican influences, all tied together by a family-oriented atmosphere, makes this spot stand out in Sebastian. It’s not just a place to eat; it’s a place to connect, try something new, and support a local family’s dream.

Now on to the food, let’s see what I had to eat!

The first dish brought out for me to try was a plate of classic Garlic Knots. Visually, they were inviting, but it was the irresistible garlic aroma that really drew me in. These knots were everything you hope for—soft, fluffy, with just the right amount of chewiness that makes garlic knots so satisfying. In fact, they were some of the best I’ve ever had. Even after cooling down, they didn’t harden like most do. I found myself snacking on the leftovers I brought home straight from the fridge, and they still had that same wonderful texture. The marinara sauce was slightly on the sweeter side, which I really enjoyed.

As a huge fan of chicken wings, I was excited when they brought out their Buffalo Garlic Parmesan Wings. The wings were average in size, fried to crispy perfection on the outside, yet still tender and juicy on the inside. The sauce was a delightful fusion of two of my favorite flavors—Buffalo heat with the richness of garlic and Parmesan. The combination was absolutely delicious and a unique twist on classic wings.

The next item they brought out for me to try was their Steak Special Sub. Made with tender shaved ribeye piled high on homemade bread, it was loaded with onions, mushrooms, green peppers, and jalapeños. The sandwich was impressive in size, and the portion of meat inside was incredibly generous. Every bite was packed with flavor, and the freshness of the homemade bread really made it stand out.

Two of their weekend special pizzas, available from Friday to Sunday, are the Al Pastor (left) and the Carne Asada (right), and they kindly made a half-and-half, so I could sample both. The Al Pastor featured marinated pork, pineapple, onion, and cilantro—a perfect balance of sweet and savory, with the pineapple adding a refreshing burst of flavor to the smoky pork. On the other half, the Carne Asada pizza came loaded with seasoned steak, onion, cilantro, and jalapeños. The bold, spicy kick from the jalapeños paired beautifully with the tender steak, making it a satisfying combination of flavors. Both pizzas were a unique and tasty spin on traditional toppings.

Out of the three styles of pizza I tried, the “Street Pizza” was hands-down my favorite! Topped with sweet corn, grilled chicken, a homemade spicy mayo, Tajín, and cilantro, it was bursting with bold flavors. The spicy mayo drizzle on top added a creamy, slightly tangy kick, while the sweet corn brought a freshness that balanced the heat. The combination was truly unique—unlike any pizza I’ve had before. It’s the kind of creative twist that sets Gianna’s Pizza apart and keeps you coming back for more.

For the grand finale, they treated me to two delicious desserts: the Apple Pie Dessert Pizza and a Cinnamon Toast Crunch Cannoli. The apple pie pizza was generously sized, perfect for sharing with a family of four. Its crust was thicker, more like a dessert crust than a typical pizza base, making it the perfect foundation for the sweet apple pie filling. The Cinnamon Toast Crunch Cannoli was just as impressive, offering a fun twist on a classic dessert. Gianna’s also offers several other cannoli options, including chocolate chip, Fruity Pebble, cherry, M&M’s, and Oreo—each one tempting and creative in its own right!
