Harbor Cove Bar & Grill Restaurant Review

Why has it taken me so long to discover this wonderful place? Located in Fort Pierce at the far end of Safe Harbor Harbortown marina is Harbor Cove Bar & Grill. Most people are opportunistic and stop at places they can easily see from the road, but this is one that you have to seek out. Even from the entrance you might think you’ve made a wrong turn since you have to enter through a guarded gate to get in. Although they have a ton of parking, on the night of my visit, the lot was quite full. The restaurant does offer a free valet service (tips appreciated) to help park your car. Upon entry, the covered dining room has a large centrally located bar and nearly 180 degree views of the water and marina. With the recent addition of their brand new sushi bar, I thought it was time to finally stop by and check this place out!

Now let’s dive right in and see what this place has to offer and what I had to eat!

Front Entrance
Waterfront Patio
Brand New Sushi Bar run by Chef Mikko Yamaguchi
Classic Lime Margarita
Tuna Eggrolls – The eggrolls are stuffed with ahi tuna, seaweed salad, pickled ginger, and all wrapped up in a wonton wrapper. It’s then fried till crispy and served with a sweet Thai chili dipping sauce. The eggrolls were lightly fried, yet had a satisfying crunch. They paired perfectly with the sweet Thai dipping sauce.
Island Grilled Mahi – A large Mahi filet is grilled, served over Jasmine rice, topped with a tropical salsa, and drizzled with a mango aioli. It was served with grilled asparagus and sweet plantains. The mahi filet was perfectly grilled and still very moist, the tropical salsa was very fresh, and I LOVED the plantains, one of my all time favorite side dishes!
Sushi Boat – On the far left was a sesame marinated baby octopus salad, the 4 sushi rolls in the middle were a crunchy tuna roll, red dragon roll, traditional rainbow roll, and a dragon roll. On the right, several sashimi choices included Hamachi, Farrow Island salmon, and AAA bluefin tuna. This is one of their larger sushi boats and is totally customizable to your liking. They also have smaller boats and you can order just single rolls or sashimi too. I have to say, I’m pretty picky when it comes to my sushi choices, and my family and I were pretty disappointed when our favorite place in Vero closed, so this might be our new go to place. This is some of the best sushi I’ve had in a while! Everything was so fresh and so full of flavor!
