Harvest Thyme Kitchen Restaurant Review – Melbourne, FL

Looking for a cozy, charming spot for your next brunch date? Harvest Thyme Kitchen in downtown Melbourne offers the perfect blend of cottage core charm and old-time character that you and your friends will adore. Housed in a renovated 1919 Craftsman-style home, this restaurant and tea house welcomes guests with multicolored flowers and inviting porch chairs reminiscent of my grandmother’s house.

What was once a family residence has transformed into a space for the community to gather over good food and great conversation. Guests can choose between shaded outdoor seating or indoor tables adorned with white lace runners and mismatched porcelain tea sets that complete the shabby chic vibe.

I visited for their Formal Tea Service with a friend, and it was a lovely experience from start to finish. Their tea menu includes a range of black and fruit teas. I went with my go-to: a decaffeinated Earl Grey. It was floral, smooth, and comforting. My friend opted for the Blood Orange tea, which was bright, citrusy, and perfectly refreshing for a summer day.

We began with a Field Green Salad topped with homemade ranch and a side of Creamy Cauliflower Soup. The ranch dressing had a delicate dill kick that elevated the mixed greens and tomatoes. The soup was an extra cheesy twist on the classic Broccoli Cheddar—rich, savory, and loaded with tender cauliflower. As someone who never chooses Broccoli Cheddar on the menu, this is a soup I’d easily eat a large bowl of.

The highlight of the service was the three-tier stand, beautifully arranged with scones, sweets, and sandwiches. Almost too pretty to eat. Almost.

My favorite sandwich was the Cinnamon Bread stuffed with orange pecan cream cheese. The combination of spice and citrus was addictive. I could have eaten three more. On the savory side, the Chicken Salad Croissant stood out with its smoky grilled flavor and a hint of sweetness from cranberries. The Cucumber Sandwich, filled with chive cream cheese and microgreens, was crisp and refreshing—a perfect choice for the summertime. Lastly, I tried the Crustless Spinach Feta Quiche. The salty cheese balanced with egg and hearty spinach made for a satisfying, comforting taste.

Then came dessert, the part I’d been most excited for. Harvest Thyme’s attention to detail shone through. Heart-shaped angel food cakes topped with blueberries were almost too adorable to eat. The cakes were airy, moist, and featured that classic vanilla-almond flavor I love. I only wished they served it by the slice!

The macarons were just as delightful. The pink one had a slightly tart strawberry flavor, while the caramel had a deep brown sugar flavor that paired perfectly with my tea.

And of course, no tea service would be complete without scones. The Royal English Scone was buttery with a subtle sugar crust, simple and timeless. But the Pineapple Scone stole the show. I’d never tried that flavor in a scone before, but its tart sweetness was unforgettable. It’s the kind of seasonal treat I’ll be craving all summer.

Harvest Thyme Kitchen is the passion project of owner Susan, who drew inspiration from her own childhood tea times with her grandmother in Nebraska. Now, she invites guests to create their own memories over tea in her lovingly restored space.

I’ll be back—next time with my mom—for another pot of tea, another round of scones, and another unforgettable afternoon at Harvest Thyme Kitchen.
