Location and Atmosphere

Hudson’s is known for its commitment to quality, especially when it comes to seafood. Oysters are flown in fresh from Prince Edward Island, the nigiri selection is a recent addition to the menu, and other dishes have been thoughtfully revamped, resulting in a lineup that feels intentional and well-curated. Bonus points for the service: while I don’t normally spotlight servers, Joey was fantastic and made the experience a pleasure from start to finish.

Artwork and Design

One of the first things I noticed when walking into Hudson’s is the unique artwork. Vibrant florals, monarch butterflies, and bold pops of color stretch across the walls, creating an immersive, almost gallery-like experience. The artwork feels lively and perfectly complements the tropical waterfront setting.

Now, to everyone’s favorite part: the food.

Loosey Goosey

We kicked things off with the Loosey Goosey, a refreshing yet sneaky-strong cocktail made with Grey Goose Citrus, St. Germain, lemon, watermelon, cucumber, and mint. It was bright, balanced, and not overly sweet, which was exactly what I wanted (no, needed) when easing into a Friday night after the first full workweek back from the holidays.

Fried Calamari

The Fried Calamari arrived perfectly crisp, paired with sweet peppers, marinara, and aioli. The peppers added just a subtle kick, keeping every bite interesting without overpowering the dish.

Dirty Oysters

Next up were the Dirty Oysters, topped with shallot, crème fraîche, and caviar. These were some of the freshest oysters I’ve ever had: briny, clean, and elevated by the richness of the crème fraîche and caviar. Absolute perfection.

Otoro Nigiri

The Otoro Nigiri (bluefin tuna belly with white soy sauce) was melt-in-your-mouth tender. Rich, buttery, and slightly sweet on the finish, it was the kind of bite you think about long after the plate is gone.

Seafood Risotto

The Seafood Risotto is clearly a fan favorite for a reason. Creamy and comforting without being heavy, it featured perfectly seared scallops and tender shrimp. A sprinkle of lemon juice gave it the perfect touch. One bite in, and it was easy to understand why this dish is one of the most popular on the menu.

Tomahawk Ribeye

For the main event, we went big with the Tomahawk Ribeye, which is perfect for sharing. The steak was packed with flavor and cooked beautifully, but the sides were just as memorable. The fingerling potatoes were crispy on the outside and practically melted inside, the broccoli was spot-on, and the onion rings were a standout. Flaky sea salt brought everything together in the best way.

Homemade Key Lime Pie

Homemade key lime pie at Hudson's on the River restaurant in Stuart FL

Dessert was non-negotiable, especially when Homemade Key Lime Pie is on the menu. As a Florida native, I take my key lime pie very seriously and Hudson’s delivers. The filling was bright and tangy, the caramel (scratch-made in-house every morning) added a rich, well-balanced touch, and the homemade Chantilly cream tied it all together beautifully. A true taste of Florida and the perfect way to end the meal.

Why Hudson’s on the River Is Worth A Visit

From fresh seafood and thoughtfully crafted cocktails to shareable steaks and classic Florida desserts, Hudson’s on the River checks all the boxes. Add in Harlow’s Hideout, the lively outdoor bar area perfect for grabbing drinks, people-watching, and soaking up the waterfront energy, and it’s easy to turn dinner into an all-night hang.
