Hutchinson Island Bar & Grille Restaurant Review – Fort Pierce, FL

Seasoned restaurateur Taylor Shull has introduced yet another exciting dining destination in Fort Pierce—Hutchinson Island Bar & Grille. Following the successes of Island Pig & Fish and Island Burger and Shake (click to read previous reviews), Taylor has transformed the former Island Beach Bar into a vibrant, modern space where fresh, from-scratch flavors take center stage. Chef Dina, now Executive Chef overseeing all three restaurants, has designed an elevated menu that perfectly complements the coastal setting. Taylor secured this prime location after winning a highly competitive bid process against strong contenders, including Kyle G’s, bringing his vision to life in a way that sets this restaurant apart.

The newly renovated venue shines with fresh paint, new flooring, contemporary lighting, striking artwork, and stylish new furniture. The open, airy layout ensures that nearly every table offers an ocean view, creating the perfect atmosphere for any occasion. With two bars, a spacious private event room, and an upcoming Sunday Brunch, Hutchinson Island Bar & Grille is set to become a top dining destination on Hutchinson Island.
Best of all, it’s open to the public—no residency or membership is required. Simply pull up to the guard gate, let them know you’re heading to the restaurant, show your ID, and receive a parking pass for entry.
Now let’s drive right in to see what this place has to offer, and what I had to eat!

For my appetizer, I opted for the PEI Mussels, and they did not disappoint. Each mussel was perfectly steamed, plump, and brimming with freshness. The broth was rich and flavorful, enhancing every bite with its well-balanced seasoning. Adding to the experience were the house made toast points, which were crisp, golden, and the perfect vessel for soaking up that delicious broth. A simple yet well-executed dish that set the tone for the meal.

Next up was a dish I hadn’t seen on a menu before—a Fried Conch Sandwich! This unique creation featured a generous portion of tender conch, deep-fried to a perfect golden brown and stacked high on a soft bun. The accompanying sauce, reminiscent of a rémoulade, added a zesty kick that complemented the crispy conch beautifully. Served with a side of perfectly crisp french fries, this dish was a fun and flavorful twist on a classic appetizer. While a bit messy to eat, it was well worth the effort!

For my first entrée, I chose the Oscar Grouper over Risotto, and it was a standout dish. The grouper fillet was perfectly cooked—moist, flaky, and full of fresh flavor. Topped with a generous portion of tender, flavorful crab, it added an extra layer of indulgence to the dish. The risotto was equally impressive, with each grain of rice cooked to perfection and infused with just the right amount of Parmesan for a rich, creamy finish. Every bite was well-balanced and satisfying, making this a must-try for seafood lovers.

For my second entrée, I went with the New York Strip, and it did not disappoint. This dry-aged steak was an impressive, generously sized cut, cooked to absolute perfection. I ordered it medium, and it arrived with a beautifully seared crust and a slightly pink center—just the way I like it. The accompanying mashed potatoes were silky smooth and creamy, making for the perfect complement to the rich, flavorful steak. A classic dish executed flawlessly!

As a grand finale, I selected the Key Lime Pie for dessert, and it was as delightful to look at as it was to eat. The presentation was stunning, making it almost too pretty to dig into—almost. The filling was luxuriously smooth and creamy, with the perfect balance of tartness to give that signature “tweak the cheeks” effect with every bite. A flawless finish to an already fantastic meal, this dessert was a standout in its own right!
