Located on Malabar Rd, Italian Princess Bakery & Deli is the creation of husband-and-wife duo Brenton and Rose. After meeting in 2010 and bonding over their Italian roots and shared love for cooking and baking, they left their corporate retail careers to pursue their dream. In 2024, that dream came to life with a cozy bakery that blends Southern Italian traditions with a touch of New York flair. From hand-rolled NY-style bagels to authentic Italian dishes and pastries, Italian Princess offers Palm Bay a delicious taste of Italy.

Inside, the space is bright and full of girlish charm with a wafting aroma of delicious baked goods. In the back corner, a white Cinderella-style carriage with two benches for seating adds a touch of fairytale whimsy. A chandelier overhead brings sparkle, while glass display counters showcase cookies and pastries, and signs feature the daily selections.

I kicked off my lunch with the “Naples” sandwich, a local favorite. Served on house-made hero bread with mortadella, pepperoni, and salami, it strikes the perfect balance of smoky, spicy, and sweet. Fresh mozzarella adds creaminess, while romaine, tomato, and red onion provide refreshing crunch. On the side, a comforting cup of Pasta Fagioli, made with cannelloni beans, puréed vegetables, and elbow pasta, was warm and hearty with a bit of a kick—perfect for dipping bread.

After my savory course, I turned my attention to dessert—because no visit to an Italian bakery is complete without something sweet.

Close-up of the Raspberry Cake and St. Joseph’s Zeppole from Italian Princess Bakery & Deli, showcasing vibrant raspberry frosting, chocolate cake layers, and a cream-filled pastry topped with a green cherry.

First up was the Raspberry Cake, a moist chocolate base layered with raspberry frosting and a bright, tangy raspberry compote. The rich cake paired with light raspberry frosting and tangy compote offered a perfect balance of sweetness and depth. The raspberry compote added a pop of flavor that cut through the richness beautifully—indulgent, but not overwhelming. The seasonal St. Joseph’s Zeppole was equally impressive. The dough had delicate lemon notes, and inside, a traditional cannoli filling with chocolate chips. Topped with more filling and a festive green cherry, it was soft, creamy, and just sweet enough—a comforting yet elevated take on a classic.

The cookie selection reminded me of the ones I grew up enjoying—classic, traditional, and colorful. The Italian leaf cookies came in pistachio and strawberry. A smooth chocolate filling held the layers together, adding just the right amount of richness. The pistachio had a subtle, nutty warmth, while the strawberry offered a light, fruity sweetness. Full of nostalgic charm, they were every bit as satisfying as they looked. The Butter Almond Sandwiches with raspberry filling are a personal favorite, and Italian Princess Bakery’s are the best I’ve had. Rich, buttery, and melt-in-your-mouth, the almond flavor adds warmth while the raspberry balances the richness, making for an irresistible combination. Lastly, I tried the pizzelles—thin and crisp with a soft center. Available with powdered sugar or a drizzle of chocolate, each one carried that classic vanilla flavor that feels instantly familiar.
