Vero Beach’s Latin Melting Pot: A Fusion Delight Restaurant Review
If you’re looking for an authentic Cubano sandwich in town, the newly opened Latin Melting Pot has your back. Not only this, but other delectable mainstays as well, and a pizza oven with some truly unique flavor options. Latin Melting Pot is owned by sisters Maritza Paulino and Gloria Lopez, as well as Gloria’s two sons Sebastian and Santiago Silva. The boys are still in high school, but I could tell they take their stake in the restaurant seriously, working hard outside of school obligations at the restaurant. Maritza came to Vero Beach by way of Ft. Lauderdale, while sister Gloria joined her here after moving from Columbia. It’s clear that the love for both cuisine and culture shines through in every aspect of the restaurant. After the group photo, some impromptu salsa dancing broke out, however briefly, and I could tell this is a joyful family and staff. It just “does your heart good” to witness it.
Maritza shared with me that lunchtime is already hopping daily, even after a short time since opening. They are located in the Miracle Mile shopping area, in the building that used to be Urban Bricks Pizza.
The atmosphere of Latin Melting Pot is clean, casual, and inviting. Ordering is done at the register, and then your food is brought out to your table. There is ample outdoor seating as well, which is covered. The menu is full of traditional dishes, including build-your-own platters of chicken, pork, beef, and fish combos with a choice of rice, vegetables, or pasta on the side. The sandwich menu includes the Tripleta (Puerto Rico), Cubano (Cuba), Qumbia Delight (Columbia), Matador (Mexico), and others from Brazil and Argentina. The Pizzas boast such toppings as pineapple, cherry, plum, pork, ground beef, plantains, etc. Salad and soup are also available. Are your taste buds singing yet?
Here’s what we tied during our visit:
Cafe con Leche – It was a real treat to have an authentic one, and it was hot, sweet, and delicious!
“Build Your Combo” Platter – We chose red rice and black beans (vegetables and pasta are also available). For our side, we were able to sample both the yucca with pickled onion and plantains. For the protein, we were able to sample the pulled pork (very tender and juicy with great flavor), pulled beef (also moist and tender with great flavor, and slow-cooked ribs (smoky/sweet). They slow roast the meats for true depth of flavor.
Cubano Sandwich – Pork, ham, swiss, pickles, mustard. Finished in a sandwich press that gave the bun a crunchy finish.
Tripleta Sandwich – Pork, chicken, ham, swiss, potato sticks, lettuce, tomato, onion, and mayo-ketchup sauce. Fresh and tender, it was a crowd-pleaser.
Samba Pizza – Pineapple, cherry, plum, bacon, and ample cheese. Such a unique and fun flavor profile to try! Next time I’d specify that I like the bacon really crispy.

We’ve had breakfast and lunch several times, always delicious. Tho is what Vero needed.
The Cuban sandwich was spot on with the flavors, melted cheese, ham, pork, pickles, mustard and toasted perfectly.
Had the Colombian tamale for lunch. Had everything and more. Chicken, pork, chorizo, potatoes, onion, garbanzo all cooked in a cornmeal wrapped in a banana leaf. Quite filling could have used a bit more seasoning for my taste I prefer it with a little hot sauce. But that’s my preference.
Will definitely be going back.
