Munchies En Ruedas Restaurant Review – Melbourne, FL

Munchies En Ruedas Restaurant Review – Melbourne, FL – Authentic Mexican flavors meet feminine glam at Munchies En Ruedas, a women-owned restaurant that stands out among the rest. The restaurant is a testament of hard work and the dedication of two women, Nayeli and Yulma. What started as a food truck in 2023 blossomed into a stunning restaurant, brimming with that same girlish charm.

Location & Atmosphere

Located on Sarno Rd, Munchies En Ruedas is a glittering gem hidden in an ordinary strip mall. Outside there are cottage-like pink and white chairs that give you a peek into what’s in store. Inside, it’s a mix of Mexican-inspired artwork and feminine décor: pink chandeliers, roses and vines, neon signs, and walls painted in their signature candy pink. Munchies En Ruedas has a signature style and they’re unapologetically all in.

Mangonada

On a hot Florida afternoon, I felt obligated to start with something refreshing so I ordered their signature Mangonada. The drink combines a mango slush with swirls of Tajín, topped with mango chunks and a chamoy-coated straw. It was sweet without being overpowering, while the tangy spice from the Tajín provided the perfect sweet-spicy balance.

Elote

To start, I ordered the Elote, and it was hands down the best I’ve tried. This classic Mexican street corn is topped with mayonnaise, cotija cheese, Tajín, and chili powder. Munchies En Ruedas doesn’t hold back on the seasoning, bringing together sweet, spicy, creamy, and savory flavors in every bite.

Tacos Campechanos

My first entrée was the Tacos Campechanos: freshly made tortillas topped with a combination of carne asada and al pastor, finished with cilantro and onions and served alongside a generous helping of beans. The combination of meats worked particularly well. The steak brought a rich, charred flavor, while the al pastor added tenderness and subtle sweetness, creating a satisfying contrast. My recommendation: don’t skip the lime. A generous squeeze brings all those flavors to life.

Llenita

I also tried something new called the Llenita, a fried corn tortilla topped with chorizo, lettuce, and sour cream. This is an excellent option for anyone who enjoys bold flavors without overwhelming heat. The chorizo delivers plenty of seasoning and richness without being overly spicy, while the lettuce and sour cream add freshness and balance.

Birriaito

The dish I was most excited to try was a combination of two things I already love: birria and burritos. Their Birriaito is stuffed with tender birria-style shredded beef, topped with melted cheese and jalapeños, and served with a side of consommé for dipping. Wow. The flavors were phenomenal. The beef was incredibly tender, and there was a warmth to the spices that was very memorable. The crispy cheese on the exterior added another layer of texture and flavor. It’s the kind of burrito I could happily order again and again.

Why Munchies En Ruedas is Worth a Visit

If I had to choose one word to describe Munchies En Ruedas, it would be genuine. The flavors are genuinely authentic and easily rival some of the best Mexican food in the area. The restaurant’s aesthetic feels genuine too. It’s a space where two women embraced their personal style rather than compromising it. Most importantly, there’s a genuine passion behind everything they do, from the food they serve to the atmosphere they’ve created.

While Munchies En Ruedas still operates its food truck for private events and catering, the owners have their sights set on continued growth and hosting more events at the restaurant. With a beautiful dining room and a menu full of standout dishes, it’s easy to see why they’re building such a loyal following. Munchies En Ruedas proves that authenticity isn’t just about food. It’s about creating something uniquely your own and doing it exceptionally well.
