Noodle House Thai & Sushi – Restaurant Review

I’ve known about the existence of this restaurant for quite a while now, but it’s one of those “out of sight, out of mind” situations. Their location is out of the way and you don’t really see it unless you are traveling east on Hwy 60 or getting ice cream at Abbott’s. About a month ago, I learned of the sale of one of my (and my families) favorite Sushi and Thai places Siam Orchid. The chef/owner there was my pick for Chef of the Year 2018, so where ever he goes we will follow. I had a recent conversation with him and discovered that he was working here, so I was excited to finally get a chance to check it out!

As I stated above, this place is located off Atlantic Blvd close to the intersection of 43rd Ave and Hwy 60 and can be a little hard to find, but so worth seeking out. In my mind I pictured it differently, I thought it was more of a To-Go place than a sit down restaurant which was a nice surprise. They do have a small parking lot that seemed to be a little tight but we managed to find a spot close to the door. Upon entry into the restaurant, the decor feels a bit dated, but it was still very clean and comfortable. We had a seat in a spacious booth and were greeting by my friend Chef Beam Tk who took care of us for the evening.

Now let’s dive right in and see what this place has to offer and what I had to eat!

Sushi Boat with Dragon Roll and Crunchy Roll

First up was this small Sushi Boat with two kinds of rolls, a Dragon Roll and a Crunchy Roll. The crunchy roll was tempura battered and fried which gives it the satisfying crunch. The Dragon roll (topped with avocado) is made with shrimp tempura, nori, cucumber and is topped with a spicy mayo. Presentation was very beautiful and everything was very fresh.

Salmon with Magno

One of my favorite dishes of the night was this salmon dish. A large salmon filet was served atop of stir fried vegetables and topped with fresh slices of mango. The salmon was perfectly cook, still very moist in the middle and had this satisfying crunch around the edges. The mango only further enhanced the natural sweetness of the salmon. I can’t want to head back and try this one again!

Crispy Duck

I was really happy to see this dish since I’m a huge fan crispy duck. The duck breast is breaded and fried till crispy and served over stir fried vegetables and topped with cashews. A sweet Thai chili sauce was served alongside. The coating on the duck appeared a little bit dry, but once I took a bite, all my worries went away. It was perfectly cooked, tender and moist, and not greasy at all. The sweet Thai chili sauce was the perfect accompaniment to the duck. My dining guests and I were fighting over the last few bites and digging through the vegetables to find those juicy morsels!

Poke Bowl

Poke bowls are typically served with raw fish, but if your not a fan, then you can substitute a different protein of your choosing. This one is made with chicken, but they can substitute just about any protein that you would like (additional charge may apply depending on the protein). From the bottom up its served on a bed of rice and includes edamame, cucumber, tofu, kimchi, seaweed salad, and chicken topped with Tobiko roe. It was delicious!

Pad Thai Noodles

While I’ve eaten this dish before, I never really knew what is was, so I Googled it. It’s a stir fried rice noodle dish from Thailand and is a very common street food. It’s made with rice noodles, sauteed veggies, scrambled eggs, tofu, peanuts, and a sauce that had a hint of peanut flavor. Portion size was very generous and although it looked heavy with all the noodles, it’ was lighter than I expected.

In Conclusion:

Asian cuisine has long been one of my top 3 favorite cuisine types because of the bold flavors and the way the food is artistically plated. We seem to get stuck in a rut and always go back to the same place because it’s safe and we know we like the food there. I’m so glad we ventured out to try a new place to add into our rotation. If you are a big fan of Chef Beam Tk’s sushi rolls, stop by and pay him a visit and discover how great the Noodle House Thai and Sushi is too!
