Ocean Grill Restaurant Review – Vero Beach, FL 2026

Ocean Grill Restaurant Review – Vero Beach, FL – Just steps from the Atlantic Ocean, Ocean Grill has been a Vero Beach landmark for decades, known for its historic charm, oceanfront views, and loyal following of locals and visitors alike. The distinctive building was constructed in 1941 by Waldo Sexton, the colorful local legend who also helped carve out the original A1A. Since 1965, the restaurant has been operated by the Replogle family, with the second generation now running the business while the third generation often greets guests at the door. With more than eight decades of history behind it, Ocean Grill continues to deliver the kind of classic beachside dining experience that has made it one of the most recognizable restaurants on the Treasure Coast.

Location & Atmosphere

Stepping inside Ocean Grill feels like taking a step back in time. The dining room is filled with character, from the dark wood beams overhead to the antique fixtures and stained-glass accents that catch the light throughout the space. Large windows bring in views of the Atlantic, while colorful hanging lamps and eclectic décor give the restaurant a warm, rustic feel that’s completely its own. It’s the kind of place where you can’t help but look around the room between bites, taking in the details that reflect decades of history and personality.

Bread & Appetizer

To start the meal, they brought out a warm loaf of bread with butter. The bread had a nice crust on the outside while remaining soft and tender in the middle—perfect to enjoy while looking over the menu. I also ordered the Crab Stuffed Mushrooms, a dish I hadn’t tried before. Each mushroom was generously filled with jumbo lump crab and baked until golden brown, creating a rich, flavorful appetizer that was a great way to begin the meal.

Scallops

For the entrées, I decided to order a couple of items I hadn’t tried on previous visits, and I’m glad I did. The Scallops were wonderful—rich and buttery with a light crust on the outside, likely from the broiler. Personally, I would have enjoyed a little more sear on them, but the interior was still slightly translucent and cooked beautifully, exactly how scallops should be.

1 lb. New York Strip

For the second entrée, I ordered the 1 lb. New York Strip, cooked medium. The steak had a beautiful sear on the outside and was seasoned perfectly, while the center was a light pink—just the way I like it. It was easily one of the best steaks I’ve enjoyed while dining out in quite some time.

Side Dishes

Stuffed potato, creamed spinach, pecan rice, and coleslaw side dishes at Ocean Grill in Vero Beach Florida

Each entrée comes with two sides, so I ordered a variety to get a nice overview of what they offer. I tried the Stuffed Potato, Creamed Spinach, Pecan Rice, and Coleslaw. All of them were delicious, but it was my first time trying the Stuffed Potato, and I’m honestly sorry I hadn’t ordered it sooner. It had great flavor with just a slight kick and quickly became a standout for me—definitely something I’ll be ordering again on my next visit.

Macadamia Coconut Cheesecake

If you’ve never had dessert here, it’s worth having them bring over the dessert tray just to see the selection—even if you don’t think you’ll order one. The visual alone might change your mind. Ocean Grill is known for its impressive lineup of house-made desserts, and seeing them all presented together makes it tough to resist. I’m still working my way through the list myself, so this visit I went with the Macadamia Coconut Cheesecake. It was an excellent choice. With a tropical-inspired name, I was hoping for a bit of citrus flavor, and it delivered—making it a light, refreshing, and enjoyable way to end the meal.
