Off the Hook Food Truck Review

While I’m sure most of you are aware by now, but for those who aren’t, Wes Garcia and his wife Michele decided to sell Wes’ Backyard BBQ so they could move on to bigger and better things. They were “officially” done with the restaurant on Aug 1st, 2021. That better thing is a brand new food truck called Off the Hook. Wes decided he needed a change from serving BBQ and will now focus more on seafood. A lot of people in Vero and the surrounding areas are huge fans of their food (me included), and knew that whatever they did beyond BBQ, it would be just as amazing! I paid them a visit this past week at Peterson’s Groves to try a few of the new dishes. Be sure to like and follow their Facebook page so you know where they will be, but for now, they will be at Peterson’s Groves Wednesday – Friday, 11:00am – 5:00pm, and on Saturday, 11:00am – 3:00pm, so go check them out during these times!

Now let’s dive right in and see what this food truck has to offer and what I had to eat!

Food Truck / Trailer
Conch Fritters – The fritters are fried till golden brown and served with an apricot Teriyaki sauce. They had a nice crunch, yet were still soft in the middle. The apricot Teriyaki sauce was sweet and paired well with the fritters.
Shrimp Roll – A generous portion of shrimp is seasoned and grilled, then served in a hot dog bun. The shrimp were perfectly cooked and had just the right amount of seasoning on them. Wes hopes to soon be serving this sandwich with a proper lobster roll split top bun.
Red Fish Reuben Sandwich – A generous portion of red fish pan fried, then stacked on New York Rye toast with coleslaw. The fish was nicely seasoned and very moist. The bread was nicely toasted for a little crunch. The fish will change from week to week, depending on what is available.
