Pistachio’s Ice Cream Shop Review

Having lived most of my life in the Midwest, I experienced the changing of the seasons.  In addition to spring, summer, fall, and winter, there was one more that likely only northerners will understand, and that is the “Ice Cream” season.  If you’ve lived in the south your entire life, you probably don’t understand what that means.  As winter sets in, most of the ice cream shops close due to decreased demand from the colder temperatures.  We would always count the days until spring came around when we could get that first ice cream cone of the season.

Owners, Chef Andre and his wife Amy opened this new location just about a month ago. They also own the Italian restaurant located next door called Sweet Basil Italiano. When the space next door became available, they decided that it was the perfect opportunity to open a gelato shop. If you are not familiar with the deliciousness that is gelato, then you are in for a treat! It contains 50% less air, less fat, is made with whole milk instead of cream, and in my opinion it’s richer and creamier than traditional ice cream. As you will see from the photos below, they do offer a few fun and unique sundaes that are a must try!

Now let’s jump right in and see what this place has to offer and what I had to eat!
