Sailfish Pub Dinner at Heaton’s

This past Monday, March 8th I was invited to attend the Sailfish Beer Pairing Dinner at Heaton’s, Vero Beach Hotel & Spa’s poolside restaurant & bar. The dinner consisted of five courses, each paired with a Sailfish Craft Beer. Taylor Welchel, a representative from the brewery was in attendance at this event and educated us more about the beers we were tasting with each course. Executive Chef Winston Guerrero-Pena and his team prepared a very unique menu, first tasting each beer and creating a dish that would pair perfectly with each course. Once again, they continue to impress me with their delicious and creative dishes!

Now let’s jump right in and see what this place has to offer and what I had to eat!

Heaton’s is located on the patio near the swimming pool
Spent Grain Pretzel served with the Billfish Pilsner – Spent grain from the brewing of the beer was used to create the pretzel. Grain mustard and a beer cheese sauce was served for dipping.
Curried Scallop served with White Marlin – The scallop was served with cauliflower and a caper raisin sauce.
Rabbit Masala served with Tag & Release Amber Ale – The rabbit was shredded and served atop the braised greens.
Jerked Brisket served with Fish Whistle Pale Ale – Beef brisket was slow roasted in a Jerk sauce and served with roasted chickpeas and forbidden rice. My favorite dish of the night!
Drinking Thing Ice Cream Float – Coconut ice cream, peanut butter Whoopi pie, Nutella froth.
