Location and Atmosphere

Sand on the Beach offers a menu filled with seaside classics and creative twists. You’ll find familiar favorites like Fish and Chips and Coconut Shrimp. But you’ll also come across unexpected dishes, like their popular Lobster Reuben, that give traditional flavors a bold upgrade. The combination of comfort and creativity makes this restaurant a standout for both locals and visitors looking for a taste of Florida’s vibrant food scene.

The dining spaces themselves are part of the charm. With plenty of seating, you can choose the scenery that best fits your mood. Sit close to the sand and feel the ocean breeze hit your face, or head upstairs and take a high-top seat with a stunning view of the sunset.

Smokin’ Fish Dip

I began my meal with the Smokin’ Fish Dip, served with a generous helping of colorful, freshly fried chips. The dip had a rich, smoky flavor balanced by bright toppings—capers, onions, jalapeños, and tomatoes. The capers added the perfect salty pop to contrast the creaminess of the dip. It was a delicious and satisfying start.

Bang Bang Shrimp

Next came the Bang Bang Shrimp, one of my go-to appetizers at seafood restaurants. These did not disappoint. Each bite delivered a juicy burst of flavor, coated in an addictive sweet and spicy sauce. The shrimp were cooked just right, tender with a snap, and the sauce added a great kick.

Lobster Bisque

Before diving into the entrées, I tried the Lobster Bisque, and it quickly became one of the highlights of the entire meal. Creamy, comforting, and generously filled with chunks of real lobster, this bisque was rich without being heavy and deeply flavorful without overwhelming the palate. I could have easily enjoyed a second bowl.

Mahi Piccata

For my first entrée, I ordered the Mahi Piccata, made with lemon butter and capers and served with broccoli and grits. The lemon butter sauce was the standout element: bright, silky, and wonderfully refreshing, adding moisture and zing to the mahi. The grits were an unexpected surprise—savory, creamy, and an excellent pairing for the fish. Together, the flavors created a balanced, comforting dish.

Lobster Reuben

I then tried one of the restaurant’s most unique dishes, the Lobster Reuben. All the classic elements of a traditional Reuben were there: Swiss cheese, thousand island dressing, sauerkraut, and rye bread. But the corned beef was replaced with shredded lobster. This simple swap transformed the sandwich entirely. Instead of a deeply savory, heavy bite, the lobster introduced buttery sweetness that played beautifully with the tangy sauerkraut and dressing. It was an unforgettable combination and something I would happily order again.

Key Lime Pie

To finish off the meal, I enjoyed a slice of Key Lime Pie. Their version packed a bold lime punch and leaned into the tartness. The buttery, flaky crust paired perfectly with the smooth, rich filling, and the bright lime drizzle on top added even more citrus bite. It was refreshing, zesty, and the perfect end to my meal.
