If you’ve been following me for a few years now, you know Italian food is in my Top 5 favorite cuisine types, so I was REALLY looking forward to trying this place. While I never had the opportunity to dine at their old location, this one is absolutely beautiful! The dining room has a modern, yet rustic Italian feel and it’s dimly lit which creates a very romantic date night experience unlike any other restaurant I’ve seen around Vero. If you prefer to dine al fresco, you have two choices. The first choice is a patio directly attached to the building which has a retractable roof and side panels that can be closed and air conditioned in inclement weather, or with the increased demand for outdoor dining, the second option is their newest expansion directly behind the first patio located under the oaks. I decided to dine inside on my first visit to get the full experience. Mikey, a long time Scampi Grill employee took care of us for the evening. Chef Alex sent out several dishes for us to enjoy, and I must say, this is some of the best Italian food I’ve ever tasted. Everything was freshly prepared and so full of flavor! I’m already counting the days until my next visit!

Now let’s dive right in and see what this place has to offer and what I had to eat!

This new patio was installed recently to add additional outdoor dining space
Heirloom & Burrata – Baby heirloom tomatoes are served with fresh housemade burrata cheese, red onion, and dressed with a balsamic reduction. My first bite, I tried to get a little bit of everything, and WOW, it was so full of flavor! The creaminess of the burrata, the sweetness of the tomatoes, and the pop of the balsamic dressing, everything just paired so well together. Needless to say, there wasn’t a single morsel left on the plate!
Baby Artichokes – Tender baby artichokes are lightly egg battered and fried till golden brown and are served in an Italian herb caper butter sauce. One thing I love about doing these reviews, is that I let the chef choose my dishes for me. I would normally not order anything artichoke, but after tasting this dish, I would order it again. The artichoke hearts were so tender, the breading was light, but the sauce was the real star here and where most of the flavor came from. The sauce was very similar to a Picatta sauce.
Melanzane Al “Forno” – Stuffed eggplant is rolled up with imported ricotta cheese, Romano cheese, fresh spinach, Italian herbs, and is topped with a rich plum tomato sauce served over angel hair pasta. This is one of my go to dishes when eating Italian, and this one did not disappoint. The eggplant was very thinly sliced and rolled tightly. The red tomato sauce was one of the richest I think I’ve ever tasted. It had a very BOLD tomato flavor!
Chicken Limone – Pan roasted chicken is topped with lump crab meat, roasted garlic, fresh basil, and served in a chardonnay lemon cream sauce over angel hair pasta. The chicken cutlets were thin and very tender, the crab meat was quite fresh, and the sauce was very bright and lemony!
