Hi, it’s Jackson Harbin! I recently visited Southern Salt & Coffee Co., a cozy, family-owned coffee shop nestled near the north fork of the St. Lucie River in Fort Pierce. Originally a facial and salt room, this spot has transformed into a local favorite, offering delicious coffee, house-made syrups, and locally sourced snacks. One unique feature is the Bible verses inscribed on the floors, adding a thoughtful touch as you enjoy your meal. The friendly baristas are always happy to guide you through their menu, which includes bagels, cinnamon rolls, and ice cream from Sutton Milk in Okeechobee, along with fresh-baked breads like Banana and Lemon Blueberry.
Their 2024 fall menu is a treat for Gilmore Girls fans, featuring five drinks inspired by the show, like “The Lorelei” and “Stars Hollow.” With its welcoming atmosphere and unique offerings, Southern Salt & Coffee Co. is a must-visit for anyone in Fort Pierce looking for a cozy spot to relax and enjoy some delicious food and drinks.
Let’s dive right in and see what I had to eat and drink!
Stars Hollow (Left) – Named after the charming town setting in Gilmore Girls, this fall menu item is a rich and creamy iced chai, infused with cinnamon and other autumn spices. The drink is crowned with a sweet pumpkin cream cold foam and a sprinkle of pumpkin spice, adding an extra layer of warmth and flavor.
The Lorelai (Middle) – Inspired by Lorelai Gilmore, another beloved character from the show, this drink features a smooth and rich brown sugar cold brew. The addition of molasses gives it a thick, textured finish. Topped with a sweet and creamy pumpkin spice cold foam, which combines pumpkin, cinnamon, and a hint of vanilla, this drink is the ultimate seasonal indulgence.
The Rory (Right) – Inspired by Rory Gilmore, one of the main characters of Gilmore Girls, this specialty drink is a classic pumpkin spice latte that embodies all the flavors of fall. It’s topped with a light whipped cream and finished with a dash of rich pumpkin pie spice, making it a perfect seasonal treat.
In the photo on the left, you’ll see the sweet breads I had the pleasure of sampling—pumpkin, lemon blueberry, and banana. Each one was fresh, flavorful, and locally sourced from a small bakery on the Treasure Coast. On the right is the cinnamon roll, made by a tiny business called Sugar Monster. It was perfectly warm, with a gooey, soft interior and a beautifully baked exterior that tasted like it had just come out of the oven. Both the sweet breads and the cinnamon roll were a delightful treat!
