The Grill at CW Willis Family Farms Restaurant Review – Vero Beach, FL

The Grill, brought to you by CW Willis Family Farms, offers a unique open-air dining experience in Southwest Vero Beach, just off Oslo Road. The restaurant serves classic American dishes, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner 7 days a week. While they don’t have an indoor dining room, they do have plenty of covered outdoor seating so you can sit and enjoy your meal, or you can always grab food to go, or order via DoorDash.com (coming soon). The newest addition to the farm is The Market, which offers fresh produce, homemade ice cream, and baked goods. Everything that we’ve tried, including the ice cream and baked goods, has been exceptional!

Earlier this summer, I had the pleasure of partnering with CW Willis Family Farms at The United Against Poverty’s Annual Burgers & Brews Competition to cook my special burger recipe (featured below), a change from my previous role as a judge at the event. The burger, aka “The Ultimate Classic Cheeseburger” won 3rd place in the People’s Choice category. Not too shabby, since I’ve never competed before, and we went up against some tough competition. The burger is now on the menu, so if you didn’t make it out to the competition, you can stop by The Grill and try it for yourself!

Now let’s dive right in and see what this place has to offer and what I had to eat!

Breakfast platter as prepared by The Grill at CW Willis Family Farms in Vero Beach Florida

Breakfast Platter – You can’t go wrong with a classic breakfast platter! It includes 2 eggs your way, bacon or sausage, home fries with sauteed peppers & onions, and your choice of toast, biscuit, or 2 pancakes. The eggs were done over easy, with a slightly runny yolk, the bacon had the right color and texture, although I like mine a little bit crispier, and the homefries included sauteed peppers & onions.

Chicken and Waffle Sliders as prepared by The Grill at CW Willis Family Farms in Vero Beach Florida

Chicken-n-Waffle Sliders – Enjoy a Southern fried chicken sandwich with fluffy waffle wedges, served alongside syrup and sausage gravy. It’s a classic comfort food combo that hits the spot. The waffles and chicken are freshly prepared, offering a satisfying crunch on the outside, while the waffles remain soft and fluffy on the inside.

Portabella Veggie Wrap as prepared by The Grill at CW Willis Family Farms in Vero Beach Florida

Portabella Veggie Wrap – A flour tortilla is filled with balsamic roasted portabella mushrooms, spinach, zucchini, onion, peppers, and plant-based cheese, and is then toasted on both sides to add a little crispiness and keep everything together. I must say, this one caught me by surprise, and I enjoyed it way more than I thought I would. When doing these reviews, I usually take a few bites so I know how the food tastes when it’s fresh, then wrap up the rest to take home for later. When I got home, this was the first dish I reached for, and I finished it, it was just that good!

The Ultimate Classic Cheeseburger, the Treasure Coast Foodie's personal recipe that won 2nd Place People's Choice at the United Against Poverty's Burgers & Brews Competition in 2023, as prepared by The Grill restaurant at CW Willis Family Farms in Vero Beach Florida

THE ULTIMATE Classic Cheeseburger – This is it, my personal recipe that won 3rd place at The United Against Poverty’s Burgers & Brews competition this year! As a judge over the past several years, I knew what I was looking for in a burger, so I thought I would put my recipe up against some of Vero’s best restaurants and see how well it would do. The burger is made with a tri-beef blend 8 oz. beef patty (chuck, short rib, and brisket), grilled to perfection, and topped with lettuce, tomato, 2 slices of American cheese, honey caramelized onions, bread & butter pickles, and the secret sauce is a roasted garlic aioli! It’s quite spectacular, you gotta go check it out and let me know what you think!
