Top Seafood Restaurants – Sebastian Riverfront

One of the main reasons why I decided to move to Indian River County Florida about 7 years ago was due to it’s proximity to the Atlantic ocean and an abundant supply of fresh seafood in the area. My previous home in NE Indiana was land locked and Red Lobster was our only affordable option. Around here, we are lucky enough to have many great seafood options, from restaurants, seafood markets, and even home delivery too!

Now let’s dive right in and see all the amazing seafood dishes I tasted over the past few weeks on Sebastian’s Riverfront while creating this article!

Capt. Hiram’s Resort

Sandbar and Blackfins Restaurants river view from the dock
Blackfins Dining Room
Dirty Oysters – Louisiana Oysters, Tabasco hot sauce, red onion, sour cream and black caviar
Fried Green Tomatoes – Parsley panko breading, and topped with a tomato crab slaw, and a spicy remoulade sauce
Scallops – New England scallops, pan seared or fried, served with 2 sides

Hiram’s is well known for live bands, great drinks, and spectacular views, but have you dined with them lately? About 6 months ago, Chef Dave Huneke was promoted to head chef. If that name sounds familiar, he previously ran VB American Bar & Grill in Vero Beach. He has been working on the menu and adding a few new dishes, a few of which are featured above. With their latest health inspection coming back with ZERO violations and deemed “The cleanest Bar in Sebastian”, I think it’s time that you revisit all that Hiram’s has to offer!

Crab E Bills

Front Entrance
Dining Room
Blackened Triple Tail Fish Tacos – Served with housemade chips and a side of coleslaw
Fried Wild Gulf Shrimp Dinner – Served with sweet potato fries, cucumber salad, and a side of tarter and cocktail sauce.
Grilled Mahi with a Pineapple Salsa – Served with a side of rice and asparagus.

With their seafood market & restaurant, Crab E Bill’s has been Sebastian’s go to place for fresh seafood since 2011. Owned and operated by “Crab E” Bill Tiedge, it was his passion to serve his customers with the freshest possible seafood in the area. Sadly he passed in 2019, but his family plans to keep the dream alive and continue to operate the market & restaurant. The market has a nice selection of raw seafood you can purchase and take home to prepare, or if you would rather have them cook it for you, then you’ve gotta check out the restaurant. Place your order, take a seat inside or on the riverfront dock, and enjoy some of the freshest seafood in Sebastian!

Crab Stop of Sebastian

Front Entrance
Riverfront Seating on the Deck
Fried Shrimp Dinner – Served with Garlic Red Potatoes and a Side of Coleslaw
Caribbean Seafood Rice – Sautéed mixed veggies, crab meat, shrimp, sausage, pineapple, are all mixed together with a touch of Caribbean seasoning and stuffed inside a pineapple.
Snow Special – It contains 3 clusters of snow crabs, 12 jumbo shrimp, 1 lb. of Garlic Red potatoes, and two corn coblets.

If you are looking for a WOW factor seafood dining experience, then look no further than the Crab Stop of Sebastian! This is my go to place when I want to impress out of town guests with their large overflowing seafood bowls. Owners Ellis & Brandy Buckner opened this place a little over 3 years ago and business has been booming ever since. Their menu features king crab, snow crab, peel & eat shrimp, scallops, crawfish, stone crab claws (when in season) fried shrimp, garlic red potatoes, sliced sausage, garlic eggs, all dusted with their secret spice blend, and then lots of garlic butter ladled over the top. When they bring your order to the table, the aroma of the garlic butter is intoxicating! Be sure to wear your “crab eat’n” clothes, this is a full contact sport and it’s gonna get messy!

  1. Sorry to be a picky grammarian, but the possessive of “it” is “its”, no apostrophe. “It’s” stands for
    “it is.”
Why no remarks on Captain Butcher’s, our favorite Sebastian seafood restaurant?
    Good reviews otherwise.
