Whit’s Frozen Custard – Restaurant Review
Whit’s Frozen Custard first got its start in March 2003 in Granville, OH with one store. After much success, they decided to franchise their concept and you can now find them in several different states across the country. A local south Florida entrepreneur, Chris Mass and owner of three franchise locations (Port St Lucie, Stuart, and Wellington) reached out to see if I would like to stop by and check out his newest location in Port St Lucie. Chris has been telling me that this is the best frozen custard he has ever tasted, and with a claim like that, I just had to stop by and taste it for myself. The biggest difference between ice cream and custard is the addition of egg yolks, which makes it richer and creamier. I took the trip down one afternoon and got a chance to taste a few of their flavors. They offer 3 daily flavors, chocolate, vanilla, and a flavor of the day. On the day of my visit, the flavor of the day was Almond and Maraschino Cherry. You first taste the cherry and then the almond on the back end. It was SO GOOD! Since the companies roots are in Ohio, and one of my favorite candies is the Buckeye, they incorporate that into several of their offerings as you will see in my pictures below. If you are not up for the drive to Port St Lucie, Chris tells me that they have grab and go options at Ryder’s Gourmet Market in Vero Beach on Cardinal Drive.
Now let’s jump right in and see what this place has to offer and what I had to eat!
