The Edgewood Eatery Restaurant Review – Vero Beach, FL

Edgewood Eatery is a Mom & Pop establishment in Downtown Vero Beach, across from Pocahontas Park, and is worth checking out if you haven’t already. Opening in 2019, owners Denise Terrance Campion and son Zach took the space to a new level, with blue and gray modern aesthetics, and local fine art for sale on the walls. The menu is not large, but easily something for everyone, and I don’t mind a smaller menu when they “do what they do” well!

My first experience with Edgewood Eatery’s food was two years ago when they catered the meal at a Haunted Vero Walking Tour event. It was memorable, so I made a point to go back and check out the restaurant itself and try something else. They were short-staffed that night, and the service was painfully slow. When the food came out, however, all was forgiven! The wings were a hit, and we had an excellent meal.

This most recent visit was originally for lunch, but I noticed a note on the door saying lunch service will start back up on October 12th. I left a voicemail asking for a dinner reservation, and I got a quick call back. The four of us each got something different, and we were all very happy with our food and overall dining experience. I should also mention that they have a good selection of brews and wine.

Check out what we had to eat!

blistered brussels sprouts as prepared by The Edgewood Eatery located in downtown vero beach florida

Blistered Brussel Sprouts Starter – For the last decade or so, it seems most restaurants have their hand in the Brussels game, and to be honest, Brussels are only a Fan Favorite when done very well. These check all the boxes; crispy on the edges, not mushy, and served atop tzatziki sauce which brightens up each bite!

coconut curry rice bown as prepared by The Edgewood Eatery located in downtown vero beach florida

Our server, Karen, was cheerful and prompt. She thoughtfully helped me narrow down my decision on what to order. I went with the Coconut Curry Rice Bowl and added shrimp for $6 more. The entire bowl was so satisfying and delicious; a little sweet, a little spicy, but the main star of the dish was the shrimp which were jumbo-sized and so incredibly tender. The forbidden black rice and sweet potato bites gave it a hearty chew. I will be ordering this again in the future!

shrimp scampi dish as prepared by The Edgewood Eatery located in downtown vero beach florida

Shrimp Scampi – This dish was a little different than expected, as the sauce was cheesy tasting, which went great with all the spinach. The sauce was a bit thin, but it didn’t suffer for it; good depth of flavor and a hearty number of shrimp! This dish also has tomato and some pickled onion.

classic burger as prepared by The Edgewood Eatery located in downtown vero beach florida

Classic Burger and Fries – Edgewood really shines in this category, I’d put it up against any others in Vero Beach. 8-ounce grass-fed patty with special sauce, greens, roasted tomato, onion, and cheddar on a brioche bun. The fries taste hand-cut, and have an addicting seasoning on them! An all-American winning combination!

fettucine Bolognese as prepared by The Edgewood Eatery located in downtown vero beach florida

Special of the Night was Fettuccine Bolognese – This hearty portion featured perfectly cooked noodles, a robust flavor profile with plenty of beef that coated the noodles well. It was finished off with a whipped ricotta. Hubby loved it!
