Captain’s Galley Restaurant Review – Fort Pierce, FL
Hi, it’s Jackson Harbin and I recently visited the famous Captain’s Galley in Fort Pierce, FL! This local spot serves breakfast and lunch but with a southern twist. When you walk in, if there’s not a wait, you will be greeted by the friendliest staff and nautical decor anywhere. Their popular items for breakfast include chicken and waffles or shrimp and grits. One of their well-known specialties is pigs in a blanket which is sausages wrapped in fluffy pancakes. For lunch, they have a crunchy fish sandwich or a hangover burger if you want to try something different on the menu. This restaurant has been family-owned for many years and is a fun place to sit back and relax with the locals of the Treasure Coast.
Now let’s dive right in to see what all my family and I had to eat!
Blueberry Pancakes – This breakfast specialty is a perfect choice to start your day off on a sweet note. There are blueberries both in the fluffy pancakes and on top with whipped cream. The blueberries were sweet, juicy, and complimented the pancakes very well.
Avocado Toast – A perfect avocado toast recipe that’s 100% no-nonsense. It came with a side of mixed greens and pico de gallo. The avo toast was fresh and flavorful, and the pico de gallo on top complemented the toast and the avocado very well. The fresh lime juice gives the dish a tang along with the olive oil and Maldon salt.
Wicked Chicken and Waffles – This iconic southern breakfast dish was taken to a new level with eggs, bacon, and homemade hot honey butter. The chicken was crispy and complimented the soft Belgian waffle very well.
Stuffed French Toast – This is one of their most popular items for brunch and I loved it. Their delectable French toast is stuffed with smooth and sweet cream cheese and topped with your choice of homemade fruit compote. We picked the blueberry topping and it was tart but juicy.
Granny’s Griddle Omelet – This was one of the most popular items on their breakfast menu. It was stuffed and topped with ham, potatoes, green peppers, onions, and cheese. The potatoes were seasoned well, and the onions and peppers were crunchy. The cheese and ham were sweet and went perfectly with the eggs.
Hangover Burger – This was a huge burger that had a variety of items on it. A very juicy beef patty with grilled potatoes, bacon, cheese, and an egg. The potatoes were grilled and sweet but the bacon was crispy. The cheese was melty and the egg topped it off with just the right yolky goodness.
