Think Greek PSL Restaurant Review – Port St Lucie, FL

Think Greek PSL is a culinary success story that began as a humble food truck venture in 2014. Founded by Chef Stella, originally from New York’s vibrant Greek community, the restaurant was born out of a passion for authentic Greek cuisine. Inspired by the lack of Greek food trucks in the Treasure Coast area during a vacation, Chef Stella saw an opportunity and embarked on a three-year journey across Florida, sharing her family’s cherished recipes with eager food enthusiasts.

Through dedication and a keen eye for new opportunities, Think Greek PSL transitioned from a roaming food truck to a permanent fixture in Port St. Lucie in 2018. The restaurant’s unique offerings stem from Chef Stella’s roots in Astoria, Queens, known as Greek Town, and her first-generation Greek American heritage. Today, Think Greek PSL stands as a testament to Chef Stella’s commitment to preserving tradition while also offering innovative Greek fusion dishes that have garnered awards and a loyal following in the community.

Dolmades as prepared by Think Greek PSL located in Port St Lucie Florida

The Dolmades I sampled from the Starters menu were a pleasant surprise, not being a dish I would typically order. The tender grape leaves encased a savory rice filling with a subtle blend of herbs that lent a depth of flavor, complemented by a refreshing hint of lemon.

Loaded hummas as prepared by Think Greek PSL located in Port St Lucie Florida

Up next was the Loaded Hummus, a delightful variation of the classic dish that I always enjoy. Topped with Kalamata olives, cucumbers, tomatoes, and feta cheese, this rendition added a fresh and tangy twist to the creamy hummus base. The combination of flavors and textures was spot-on, creating a refreshing appetizer that was both satisfying and flavorful. Plus, the perfectly toasted pita served alongside added an extra layer of deliciousness to the experience.

Tirokafteri, a spicy feta spread, as prepared by Think Greek PSL located in Port St Lucie Florida

Moving on to the Tirokafteri, a spicy feta spread, I encountered a dish packed with bold flavors and a fiery kick that certainly made its presence known. While I appreciate a bit of heat in my food, I found this spread to be quite spicy, even surpassing my personal taste preferences. However, for those who relish a fiery culinary experience, I highly recommend giving this flavor-packed dish a try. The robust combination of spicy feta and aromatic spices creates a memorable taste sensation that is sure to leave a lasting impression on spice enthusiasts.

Pastitsio, Greek salad, and Lemon potatoes as prepared by Think Greek PSL located in Port St Lucie Florida

Transitioning to “The Classics” menu, I had the pleasure of diving into the beloved Pastitsio. This iconic Greek dish features a layer of penne pasta topped with a flavorful Kima red meat sauce seasoned and aromatic spices like cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg, all topped with a decadent béchamel cream sauce. The portion size was generous, and the dish boasted robust flavors that stood out compared to other versions I’ve tasted. Pairing it with the Lemon Potatoes on the side was a wise decision; the potatoes were impeccably cooked, offering a tender texture with just the right hint of refreshing lemon flavor.

A lamb & beef pita sandwich (Gyro) as prepared by Think Greek PSL located in Port St Lucie Florida

A visit to a Greek restaurant without trying the iconic Pita Sandwich (Gyro) would be incomplete. It’s made with pita bread generously layered with a creamy tzatziki sauce, lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, and thinly sliced lamb/beef blend Gyro meat. The pita bread itself was incredibly soft, very fresh, the veggies added a satisfying crunch, the gyro meat was freshly sliced from the vertical spit. It quickly became one of my favorites from the review, offering a hearty portion that left me quite satisfied.

Wrapping up my meal, I tried the Baklava Cheesecake (left) and the Chocolate Baklava (right) for dessert. Both were incredibly delicious. The Baklava Cheesecake combined creamy cheesecake filled inside the baklava crust, while the Chocolate Baklava added a very rich twist to a traditional dessert.
