Malabar Mo’s Bar & Grill Restaurant Review – Malabar, FL

Chef Brandon Howard, the former Executive Chef of a popular Vero Beach eatery, has moved on to a new project and is now a managing partner at Malabar Mo’s located in Malabar, Fl. He has recently revitalized the menu and has a few property upgrades planned over the next few months. Given his track record, I’m confident he will be successful in his new role. He contacted me a few weeks ago with an invitation to stop by and sample several of the new menu items.

The Atmosphere

As you drive north on US Hwy 1, you’ll find the restaurant situated on the western side of the highway. Upon entering the parking lot, the building presents itself as a charmingly renovated older home turned restaurant. The addition of several covered patios provides ample outdoor seating options, while inside, a spacious bar complements the limited indoor seating. Behind the restaurant, a dedicated stage awaits local bands for live performances, adding a lively touch to the tropical vibe that permeates the venue.

The Food

Mo's Famous jumbo chicken wings as prepared by Malabar Mo's in Malabar, Florida

The first dish I tried was the MO Famous Jumbo Chicken Wings. These wings were expertly fried to achieve a delightful crispness while retaining a tender and moist interior. They were generously coated in the “House” sauce, reminiscent of a sweet Thai Chili sauce, adding a flavorful and spicy kick to the wings.

Mo's House Salad with Mahi Mahi filet as prepared by Malabar Mo's in Malabar, Florida

MO’s House Salad is a vibrant medley of fresh ingredients, including mixed greens, tomatoes, shredded carrots, cucumbers, sliced apples, feta, and candied walnuts. The honey raspberry vinaigrette served on the side, added a perfect blend of sweet and tangy flavors. The blackened Mahi filet (upcharge) provided a savory protein option, cooked just right for a tender and flaky texture.

Smash Burger tacos with a side of potato chips as prepared by Malabar Mo's in Malabar, Florida

The Smash Burger Tacos, a dish that has been trending online, has made its way to Mo’s! This delectable creation is a highlight on their new lunch menu, featuring two 6″ tortillas pressed into ground beef and then grilled. The result is a juicy and flavorful burger experience wrapped in a tortilla. It’s no wonder these Smash Burger Tacos have become a favorite, combining the best of burgers and tacos into one irresistible dish.

A Turkey BLT sandwich with a side of coleslaw as prepared by Malabar Mo's in Malabar, Florida

Another new addition to Mo’s lunch menu is the Turkey BLT. This sandwich features sliced turkey breast served on grilled Texas toast, topped with lettuce, tomato, and their signature house blend mayo. What sets this sandwich apart is not just its delicious flavors but also its unbeatable value. The Turkey BLT offers exceptional bang for your buck, making it a must-try option for lunchtime cravings at Mo’s.

A Lobster Melt sandwich served with a side of onion rings as prepared by Malabar Mo's in Malabar, Florida

The Lobster Melt from the Sandwiches menu is a standout addition that offers a fun twist on a classic. This sandwich features a generous portion of cold water lobster salad, delicately dressed with mayo, fresh herbs, and spices. The lobster salad is then piled high on a panini-style brioche bun, with melted pepper jack cheese adding a delightful kick. As a side, I opted for onion rings, and they were a perfect accompaniment—crispy and satisfying, adding an extra crunch to the meal.

Creamy Cajun Shrimp Pasta dish as prepared by Malabar Mo's in Malabar, Florida

The Creamy Cajun Shrimp Pasta at Mo’s was a standout dish. It featured a generous portion of perfectly cooked shrimp in a creamy San Marzano tomato sauce, served over penne pasta and topped with fresh Parmesan cheese. The flavors were rich and well-balanced, making it my favorite dish of the meal.
