Now let’s dive right in and see what this place has to offer and what I had to eat!
The first appetizer that I tried was the #1 Grade Ahi Tuna Nachos. Artfully crisscrossed sauces – ponzu, wasabi mayo, and chipotle aioli – adorn the plate, creating visual appeal. Crispy chips provide the perfect vehicle for sesame-seared #1 Grade Ahi tuna, while an Asian slaw adds a delightful crunch.
Up next I tried Don’s Crab Cakes, two exquisite crab cakes delicately perched over rich and flavorful remoulade sauce, with a refreshing petite arugula salad nestled at the center of the plate. These cakes are a showcase of pure crabby goodness, using as little filler as possible for the perfect texture, and then they are seared to golden-brown perfection.
A customer-favorite salad, “The One” is highly sought-after for its vibrant blend of colors, flavors and textures. The salad features Blackened Fresh Catch on crisp mixed greens with Gorgonzola, strawberries, candied pecans, and red onions, all tossed in Red Wine Vinaigrette. The interplay of salty, sweet, and crunchy textures makes a satisfying meal choice for savoring Florida’s extended summer season.
The immediate visual appeal of the American Kobe Burger when they sat it down in front of me made the anticipation of my first bite all the more exciting. The beef patty was cooked to a perfect medium with just the right touch of pink in the center. Nestled between a lightly toasted brioche bun, the burger was topped with iceberg lettuce, tomato, American cheese, grilled onions, pickles, and crispy bacon. The result was a symphony of flavors and textures that was nothing short of extraordinary, making it a true delight for a burger aficionado like myself.
The highlight of my evening was undoubtedly the Coconut Crusted Fresh Catch. This delectable dish featured a large grouper filet, topped with a coconut crust and grilled to a perfect golden brown before being finished in the oven. It was presented over a bed of Jasmine rice and surrounded with a cashew curry sauce that was nothing short of spectacular. The sauce seamlessly blended sweet & savory notes and a subtle nuttiness that elevated the entire dining experience to new heights.
As I savored the final course of the night – dessert – I couldn’t have asked for a more delightful conclusion to my meal. The Chocolate Turtle Bread Pudding was served warm and topped with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream. The decadent dessert was a true indulgence, perfectly capping off my visit to Riverwalk Cafe & Oyster Bar!
