Thai cuisine is a beloved cuisine that has continued to gain popularity across the world for its bold flavors, unique combinations of herbs and spices, and healthy ingredients. I kept these things in mind as I made my way to Sebastian to check out the newly opened Thai Smile, conveniently located at 709 US 1.
Chef Julie and Chef Paul have more than 30 years of cooking experience, I learned as I met Chef Julie on a sunny Wednesday afternoon. Specialty Thai herbs and fresh vegetables are the cornerstones that bring these dishes “a step above.” The menu offers soups, salads, noodles, curry, rice, duck specials, whole red snapper, and sushi / sashimi rolls. For the thirsty crowd, there’s also beer, sake, and wine available. After slurping down a delicious Thai Iced Tea, here is what else we had to eat!
Pad Thai with Chicken– The most famous Thai rice noodle dish on the planet, this was absolutely delicious! The stir-fried bean sprouts, scallions, egg, and crushed peanuts were very fresh tasting. I’ve had Pad Thai when it’s too sour, and when it’s too heavy, and this one gets it right.
Red Curry with Rice and Chicken – There’s just something comforting to me about the unique flavor profile of Red Curry. This healthy portion shines with its coconut milk, carrots, potatoes, and onions, fully integrated and satisfying!
Drunken Noodles with Chicken – This one brings the heat! This is a stir-fried flat noodle with bell pepper, onion, tomato, and basil leaves. The noodles were tender, and the sauce just clung to them beautifully. The chicken was tender and helped balance the heat of the sauce.
California Roll and Crab Roll – Of course, we had to try the sushi rolls! These handmade drops of exactly mouthful sushi rice are all at once crunchy, creamy, and chewy!
Volcano Roll – In the mood to celebrate? This one brings a bit of wow factor to the table, with its hot flame. This is made of Kani (crab), avocado, cucumber, and seeds topped with volcano sauce.
